I read this to my grandson and I absolutely loved it and he listen to every word。 I love Jesus。 The true meaning of Christmas。 Great book to read to your grand children。
Hannah,
A summarized retelling of the main events of the Christmas story。 The tale is given in larger words than usually are in a Golden Book but it’s still going to be easier for a small child because of the beautiful pictures and the shorter attention span。 I have some early memories of following the pictures in this book while my parents read aloud from the real Bible story, as well。The story is not interpreted, simply summarized。 It would be suitable for any denominational preference。
Little Seesaw,
This is a very good telling of The Christmas story from Luke 2。
Rosa Cline,
This little golden book does a great job at summarizing the Lords birth without loosing any of the importance of the story。
Colleen,
This little Golden Book tells the story of the birth of Jesus Christ。 It is beautifully illustrated and tells the story of Mary and Joseph, the shepherds, and the wise men and the birth of Jesus in a pure and simple manner for children。 I gave this book to my littles in 1988 and we have read it many Christmases since then and enjoyed re-reading it this Christmas season。
Meghan,
Lovely illustrations
Rochelle,
A sweet and simple retelling for children to enjoy with beautiful illustrations。

Noah,
I like that at the end that Jesus was holding the lamb。 It looked so cute。 Just like Juliet。 But a boy。
Dawn,
It's like this book was written by someone who never met a child。 The language is stilted and, at times, obscure。 For instance, instead of saying Jesus was born, the book says that Mary brought forth a child。It was not engaging at all for my almost 6yo。 There must be better books than this telling the story! Catherine,
it was good because Jesus was born and basically it's not Christmas, but you can still read Christmas books when it's not Christmas! it was good because Jesus was born and basically it's not Christmas, but you can still read Christmas books when it's not Christmas! 。。。more
Desiree,
This is a good telling of the Christmas story。 I just wish they had gone into more detail on the last page。。。 I don't feel they said enough about Who Jesus is/grew up to be。 This is a good telling of the Christmas story。 I just wish they had gone into more detail on the last page。。。 I don't feel they said enough about Who Jesus is/grew up to be。 。。。more
Jean Maynard,
Wish this were QUOTED from the Holy Bible I wish this "story" was the Holy Bible version。 I don't think The Night Before Christmas is paraphrased from the poem。。。it would be preferable to me if this were KJV。 Wish this were QUOTED from the Holy Bible I wish this "story" was the Holy Bible version。 I don't think The Night Before Christmas is paraphrased from the poem。。。it would be preferable to me if this were KJV。 。。。more

This review has been hidden because it contains spoilers。 To view it, click here。 The writing wasn't always great: 'She lived long years ago。' I liked the line "He shall be called the Son of God, and his kingdom shall never end。"I was disappointed in the skin tones that were way off。 Joseph was pale with fair hair。 And Mary had pale skin too。 That in no way represents the people of Nazareth。 Same goes for everyone else。 There were fair-skinned, blond haired people in here, which is absurd。In here it said Joseph only asked shelter for his wife which I hadn't heard before。 All The writing wasn't always great: 'She lived long years ago。' I liked the line "He shall be called the Son of God, and his kingdom shall never end。"I was disappointed in the skin tones that were way off。 Joseph was pale with fair hair。 And Mary had pale skin too。 That in no way represents the people of Nazareth。 Same goes for everyone else。 There were fair-skinned, blond haired people in here, which is absurd。In here it said Joseph only asked shelter for his wife which I hadn't heard before。 All of a sudden when the wise men came in search of Jesus, they found them in a house。 When did they get in a house? We end with a blond, blue-eyed Jesus, which caps off the whole thing。 'The child was called Jesus, the name given by the angel before he was born。 And the child grew and became strong in spirit and full of wisdom。 And the grace of God was upon him。'I liked the last lines but felt it didn't really capture who Jesus was or what he means in Christianity。 I liked all the colorful clothing and bright, deep colors inhere。 I had the 1980 version, with Mary, Joseph and Jesus in a gold circle, with Jesus on the left side, but that version wasn't on GR。 。。。more

Sidney McQuade,
Oh how I just love this story so much! I find myself rereading this book over and over。 I read it to family members at Christmas, and then again anytime I see it when looking at the bookshelf。 It is just such a beautiful telling of the birth of Jesus。 The illustrations just paint such a beautiful story both on the pages and in our minds。
Kylie Abecca,
Very badly written。 Basically an unedited short story with some pictures。
Tammy Catherine,
So sweet and well written for young minds to understand。 Would recommend for all。

The Celtic Rebel (Richard),
A wonderful simple retelling of the birth of Jesus, highlighted by wonderful illustrations。 I read this book as a child and then shared it with my children。 Recently purchased a new copy to share with my grandchildren。 They love it too。
`Cristina,
the two stars are not for the story, obviously。。but for the way it is narrated。。 too quickly summarized, whereas this was a golden opportunity to narrate the story of Baby Jesus to children
Kimberly,
I owned this book as a child, and found it again at a Saver's recently。 I bought it for my son。。。but mostly for me and my nostalgia。 :) I owned this book as a child, and found it again at a Saver's recently。 I bought it for my son。。。but mostly for me and my nostalgia。 :) 。。。more

Amanda,
Beautiful illustrations。 The text is really close to the NKJV of the Bible in Luke (and Matthew for the wise men)。 Loved this one as a child, and it is great to read it to my own children。
